What appeared to be a water main break turned out to be a sanitary sewer overflow on Rockport Road in Janesville on January first.
Janesville Utility Director Dave Botts says crews got the problem under control within two hours.
Botts says there was no risk or danger to the public's health or safety as a result of the incident which lasted about two hours.
Botts says this type of occurrence is extremely rare. The last time he remembers it happening is 2011.
