Man accused of swindling Janesville RV customers

An Evansville man accused of swindling hundreds of thousands of dollars out of customers of his former business makes his initial appearance in Rock County Court.

Assistant Attorney General Michelle Viste requested that 47-year-old Troy Tofte be held on a $10,000 cash bond.

Court Commissioner Larry Barton agreed with the prosecution and set bail at $10,000 with the conditions he have no contact with victims, not write any personal checks, and not be involved in any one on one business transactions over $1000.

The criminal complaint says that among several types of fraud Tofte committed while he owned Janesville RV, he sold trailers on consignment and then didn't give the money to the owners, or the trailers to the buyers.
