YWCA Rock County seeks nominations for Racial Justice Award

The YWCA Rock County is now accepting nominations for the 2019 Racial Justice Award that will be presented during the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration being held at Blackhawk Technical College from 3-6 pm on Saturday, January 12, 2019. The MLK Commemoration event is presented by the Diversity Action Team of Rock County, YWCA Rock County, Blackhawk Technical College, the School District of Beloit, the School District of Janesville, School District of Milton, School District of Clinton, the United Auto Workers Local 95, and the American Association of University Women.
The Racial Justice Award recognizes an individual or organization that actively strives for eliminating racism and promoting racial equality.   Individuals nominated should have a strong commitment to peace and race relations, participated in specific peacemaking or anti-racism activism, demonstrate leadership and service to others.
The recipient of the 2018 Racial Justice Award was Dorothy Harrell. Nomination forms can be found online at www.ywcarockcounty.org or at the YWCA Rock County office at 1735 S. Washington Street.
