UPDATE: Police apprehend Rockford hotel shooter, U.S. Marshal deputy is only victim

Illinois State Police have 39-year-old Floyd Brown in custody following an hours-long standoff with police on Interstate 55 in central Illinois.


UPDATE:
The McHenry County Sheriff’s office says the U.S. Marshal deputy shot in Rockford’s active shooter situation this morning has died.
He’s been identified as 35-year-old Jacob Keltner, a 12 1/2-year veteran of the department.


Rockford Deputy Chief John Pozzi says the suspect, 39-year-old Floyd Brown, jumped out of a third-story window after shooting the deputy at the Extended Stay America Hotel this morning.
As of 4:00 p.m. Thursday, Brown is currently involved in a barricaded subject situation near Interstate 55 south of Bloomington.

Rockford, Illinois police are responding to reports of an active shooter at the Extended Stay Hotel on North Bell School Road.
Police say a deputy assigned to the U.S. Marshals Service was shot while serving warrants.
Officers from multiple agencies are searching for the 39-year-old suspect, Floyd Brown of Springfield, Illinois, who fled the scene and should be considered armed and dangerous.
The U.S. Marshal was shot with a riffle, and police don’t have any updates on his condition.
