The Janesville City Council has an empty seat to fill.
Jens Jorgensen submitted his resignation Monday night, which will be effective the night of April 15.
Jorgensen says he’s taken a promotion with his job that will require him to relocate to Fond du Lac.
He says he enjoyed his time serving the people of Janesville and hopes to return to town some day to raise a family.
The city council has four seats open in the April 2nd election, with Doug Marklein, Tom Wolfe, Sue Conley and Jim Farrell running for re-election against challenger Jan Chesmore.
Jorgensen’s seat will have to be filled separately from this spring election.
