Child Protective Services are involved after a five-year-old Beloit boy accidentally shot himself in the hand Tuesday night.
Beloit Director of Strategic Communications Sarah Millard says the incident happened at a residence in the 500 block of Highland Avenue just before 9:00 p.m.
Millard says the boy was brought to a Rockford hospital where he was treated and later released.
Millard says the child found the gun in the home where he was staying.
