The empty Pick ‘n Save building on Janesville’s south side is coming under new ownership.
Rock County plans to purchase the entire property from developer Jim Graft for $4.4 million as part of their facilities master plan.
The purchase is pending county board approval, but officials plan to move their human services programs from the old health care center by the jail to the 129,000-square-foot former grocery store building by 2021.
The services offered at the Eclipse Center in Beloit will not be part of the move, which could cost another $20 million to remodel the Pick ‘n Save.
The county hopes to close on the property by June 17.
