Rock County Court Commissioner Larry Barton sets a $2,000 bail for a Beloit man accused of repeated sexual assault of a child.
58-year-old Carlos Mar made his initial appearance in Rock County Court Tuesday afternoon. As a condition of his bail, he is not allowed to have contact with any minors.
According to the criminal complaint, a girl Mars knows reported multiple sexual acts to police that occurred between 2004 and 2006 when she was under the age of 15.
The complaint says Mar sent the victim a text message not to tell police anything, and the victim also has a recording of Mar talking about the incidents.
The criminal complaint also mentions a separate series of incidents with Mar and another girl he knows, which is not included in the charge in this case.
