A Janesville man charged with first degree sexual assault of a child and 30 counts of possession of child pornography takes a plea deal in Rock County Court.
43-year-old Michael M. Jackson pleaded guilty to just three counts of possession of child pornography, and the remaining 27 were dismissed but read in along with the sexual assault.
It was a joint recommendation from the attorneys, accepted by Judge Barbara McCrory.
She sentenced him to 10 years of prison plus nine years of extended supervision along with a lifetime on the sexual offender registry.
Assistant District Attorney Rich Sullivan said the family of the young victim insisted Jackson receive at least 10 years in prison, and they were relieved they wouldn’t have to go to trial, so the victim wouldn’t have to testify in court and relive the trauma.
