Janesville Police say Thursday night just after 7:00 p.m. a citizen reported a suspicious person switching out the license plates on a vehicle in the parking lot of a local business.
An officer located the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop on Highway 51 near Black Bridge Road but the driver fled.
Eventually the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot at which point K-9 Fred was deployed.
Alexander Schenck is wanted for retail thefts at Farm and Fleet and had outstanding warrants from other retail thefts at Woodmans.
Schenck was arrested Thursday on charges of eluding an officer, resisting, and two counts of retail theft.
