The Wisconsin Elections Commission determines an electioneering complaint against Janesville City Manager Mark Freitag is unfounded.
The commission send the city’s attorney a letter saying they investigated the complaint filed by former city council candidate Jan Chesmore and dismissed it following a meeting on Tuesday.
The letter says the complaint does not raise a reasonable suspicion that a violation of electioneering occurred.
Chesmore publicly accused Freitag of “shaking hands and kissing babies” at polling places during last April’s elections.
The City of Janesville said in a statement they will continue to uphold ethical standards in elections.
