The City of Janesville’s plan commission votes to approve a primary and secondary site for a proposed indoor sports complex.
As expected, the Janesville Mall property is the preferred location, and the land adjacent to the outdoor Youth Sports Complex is the alternate.
The plan commission was not asked to consider the financial aspects of the project, only the potential site.
The recommendation does not formally specify a location on the Janesville Mall site, but current proposals show a building off of the remaining space of the former J.C. Penny’s store on the northeast portion of the property.
The Youth Sports Complex site would be south of the current facilities on South Wuthering Hills Drive on city-owned land.
The full city council is scheduled to take action on the final site selection and authorize construction design during their meeting on November 11.
