Postal carriers ask help in avoiding hazards

The United State Postal Service is sponsoring its first National Slip, Trip and Fall Prevention Week. Customer Relations Coordinator Bob Sheehan says this can be a particularly dangerous time of year for letter carriers along the state line. Sheehan says wet leaves, snow, and ice can be an all too real hazard. He urges property owners to check for potential dangers. He suggest marking any loose bricks or hand rails, ensuring steps aren’t slippery, and keeping walkways clear. The postal service reports last year more than 18,000 carriers were injured due to slips, trips, and falls.
