The Superintendent of Schools in Janesville is promoting a sense of community in light of gun violence involving students in Waukesha and Oshkosh this week. Steve Pophal sent out a letter of reassurance to parents and staff Wednesday outlining the district’s safety and security procedures. Pophal says everyone needs to be the district’s eyes and ears in a proactive, rather than reactive effort. He says one of the district’s core promises is to prioritize the safety, health, and wellness of the school community. Part of that effort is to know every student by name, strength, and need, so they feel comfortable in reporting any concerns.
