An initiative to inspire Rock County sheriff’s deputies to solve social problems appears to be paying off. Sheriff Troy Knudson says one young deputy wanted to do more for victims of homelessness. Knudson says Deputy Ryan Montag reached out to the Holiday Inn Express in Janesville and the motel offered overnight stay vouchers. He says sometimes the sheriff’s office can’t find suitable overnight housing for some from traditional sources, and this will help meet that need. Deputy Montag picked up the vouchers Monday.
