Booze may soon be showing at a Janesville movie theater

Wildwood Theaters Movies 16 in Janesville is one step closer to getting a liquor license. The city’s Alcohol License Advisory Committee Wednesday forwarded a positive recommendation to the city council. Restrictions will include limiting the number of theaters where alcohol will be allowed, only allowing customers to buy one drink at a time, limiting the number of hours for service, and using special “glow in the dark” cups to enable ushers to see who’s consuming alcohol. One committee member did express concern about introducing alcohol in a family environment frequented by minors. The movie theater’s manager hopes to start selling alcohol soon after the license is granted.
