SHINE Medical Technologies in Janesville isn’t just achieving success producing isotopes to detect cancer, they’re also successfully producing isotopes that can treat cancer.
Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications Rod Hise says the company is announcing the production of patient dose quantities of the therapeutic isotope lutetium-177.
Hise says the lot passed GE Healthcare’s quality control testing, including internationally recognized purity standards.
Lu-177 is used to treat neuroendocrine cancers. It also shows promise for the treatment of metastatic prostate and other cancers.
