Whitewater declares state of emergency

Another local community is declaring a state of emergency over COVID-19. The city of Whitewater reports Walworth County had its first confirmed case of the coronavirus on Wednesday. Officials are also closing city facilities to the public and discouraging opening any committee and commission meetings to the public. The municipal court is also postponing cases. The city clerk’s office will be open for in-person voter registration and absentee voting. Police, Fire, and Public works are expected to continue operations. Updates on municipal services will be posted on the city’s website and Facebook page. The status will be reevaluated on March 30th.
