Attempted homicide suspect arrested again for recent shots-fired incident

Police arrest a Beloit man wanted on gun charges.
A Beloit police officer spotted 35-year-old Anthony Gibson in the 500 block of Shirland Avenue early Monday morning just across the state line in South Beloit.
Gibson was the suspect in a shots-fired incident from last Friday in the 1800 block of Madison Road that caused no injuries.
He was taken into custody on suspicion of recklessly endangering safety and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Gibson was already facing an attempted first-degree intentional homicide charge for a separate case in Rock County from June of 2017.
In that incident, he was accused of shooting a 32-year-old man in Janesville, causing serious injuries to the victim’s chest and back.
Court records show he posted a $25,000 cash bail for those charges back in June of 2019.
The attempted homicide case is currently scheduled for a plea/sentencing hearing in Rock County court on June 5.
