Beloit School Board navigating superintendent search through coronavirus outbreak

The coronavirus outbreak is slowing down the School District of Beloit’s search for its next superintendent.
The school board had planned to hold public forums this month to take community input on the search process and the desired traits of the next school leader.
School Board President Jeff Klett said the board is still committed to getting that public input, and they don’t think a survey would be enough of a step.
The district already posted the job opening and has seven applicants thus far, but the school board is unsure of how to move forward during the public health crisis.
They plan on meeting again in the next few weeks to plan their next steps, which will likely include new board members after next Tuesday’s election.
The board is looking at hiring the Wisconsin Association of School Boards to help with the search, but they still need to determine what capacity the WASB will be needed.
