School District of Beloit interim co-superintendent steps down

The School District of Beloit is reducing from two interim co-superintendents to one.
School Board President Jeff Klett announced Dr. William Beckley agreed to step down from his position, leaving Sue Green in charge of the district.
Klett said the decision was made jointly, in light of the schools shutting down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The school board felt it was no longer necessary to have two interim co-superintendents while students are learning remotely.
“Dr. Beckley went above and beyond in developing trust with the staff and community under a difficult circumstance and getting the district back on track,” Klett said in a statement.
Klett cited fiscal responsibility in preparation for an extended school shutdown, and the board would also like the district to have one voice leading the way.
Dr. Beckley came out of retirement to take the position in Beloit at the end of January, following the resignation of superintendent Dr. Stanley Munro.
“The teachers, administrators and students of SDB are truly amazing,” Beckley said. “I wish the district nothing but success.”
The school board is in the early stages of its search for their next permanent superintendent. It met in closed session Tuesday night to accept Dr. Beckley’s resignation.
