Forward Janesville announces proposal to ‘safely re-start Wisconsin’s economy’

Forward Janesville is offering its idea for how Wisconsin can start to re-open as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.
The local chamber commerce announced “Better Together: The Badger Task Force,” a non-partisan, public-private framework for the entire state.
The Badger Task Force would be led by three chairs from the private sector, public sector and health care sector, aimed at coordinating state resources and building public trust through transparency and communication.
They would then form individual task forces to work on nine areas of focus:

  • Testing
  • Tracking
  • PPE
  • Surge Capacity
  • Social Connections
  • Transportation & Childcare
  • Food & Shelter
  • Financial Lifelines for Businesses and Citizens
  • Industry Sectors

“We must protect the health and well-being of all citizens while avoiding an economic collapse,” Vice President of Government Relations Dan Cunningham said in a press release. “This is a difficult balance that will require everyone to be on the same page with common goals.”
The plan also calls for a centralized data and analysis center and a communication center to work directly with local governments to create an organized flow of reliable information for the public.
The proposal is looking for the task force to start being formed this week, with state-wide daily briefings beginning next week.
“Wisconsin needs the systematic, inclusive, data-driven ‘all in’ approach we are advocating in order to safely re-open Wisconsin’s economy,” Cunningham said. “We are in this together, and together we will get to the other side of this crisis.”
Forward Janesville is looking for legislative support for their framework, asking citizens to contact their representatives, senators and Governor Tony Evers.
It’s board of directors produced the video below, to explain the plan.
