SHINE working with developer on 2nd Janesville isotope production facility, new headquarters

SHINE Medical Technologies is planning to expand its presence on Janesville’s south side.
The radioisotope company is working with a developer to build a combined 53,000 square-foot office headquarters and second isotope production facility just north of its existing property on Highway 51.
The Janesville City Council will vote Monday on a tax incremental financing agreement with the developer for the $10 million project, which would include just over $1 million in contributions from the city.
Economic Development Director Gale Price said the developer would own the property and SHINE would operate as a tenant. They hope to begin construction before the winter and finish by next fall.
SHINE is currently constructing its moly-99 production facility, which they hope can start producing commercially in 2022. The second facility would produce a different isotope, lutetium-177, used to fight cancer.
