Wisconsin State Patrol troopers shoot and kill a driver who exchanged gunfire with officers on Highway 26 near Fort Atkinson.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the incident, which involved three officers firing their weapons at the suspect who died as a result of the gunshots.
The DOJ says the driver led police on a pursuit southbound on Highway 26, where the driver fired shots at officers.
The vehicle eventually struck police stop sticks near the interchange with Highway 12, and the armed driver attempted to carjack a civilian before three troopers opened fire.
The suspect died at the scene, but no officers were injured in the incident.
The three who fired shots have been placed on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
