Local nonprofit banks on mystique

The pandemic has forced charities to be creative with their fundraising efforts to survive over the last year and Project 16:49 is no different. Executive Director Tammy Degarmo says last year the organization, which helps unaccompanied youth find shelter and services, raised 30-thousand dollars through a “Lip-Sync” battle. This year Project 16:49 is taking its fundraising effort online with a virtual “Masked Singer” contest. Degarmo says voting for the local “Singers” began Thursday, and their identities will be revealed in a Facebook “live” event March 13th.
