The Rock County Sheriff’s Office will be offering, two D.N.R. Boat Safety Education Courses beginning in April, 2016 at the Rock County Job Center. The Rock County Sheriff’s Office strongly encourages all boaters to take the boat safety course. You will learn the safe boating techniques and knowledge that can keep you safe on the water this summer.
Anyone born on or after Jan 1st, 1989 is required to complete a boating safety course to legally operate a motorized boat or personal watercraft (PWC) on Wisconsin waters. It is also recommended that participants be at least 12 years of age, or turn 12 shortly following completion of the class.
There is a class fee of $10.00 per student, which will be collected at the time of registration. A parent/guardian signature is required for all persons under the age of 18 and the underage student must be present with an adult parent or guardian at time of registration.
Class size is limited to thirty (30) students and registration is available online. After completing the online registration, you will receive an email with confirmation and registration information. Register online at http://www.co.rock.wi.us/sheriff-boater-education
This Boat Safety Education Course will be held on the following dates:
Class #1
- Mandatory Registration: April 25th at 6:00 p.m. @ Rock County Sheriff’s Office
- Class: May 7th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. @ Rock County Job Center
Class #2
- Mandatory Registration: June 6th at 6:00 p.m. @ Rock County Sheriff’s Office
- Class: June 18th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. @ Rock County Job Center
Attendance at all classes is mandatory.
