A hazardous materials incident Wednesday morning prompts an evacuation of the Beloit College Powerhouse.
According to a Facebook post the Janesville Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials Unit assisted the Beloit Fire Department with incident which occurred around 9:30 a.m.
According to an email from the city of Beloit the incident involved a mixture of pool chemicals that created a hazardous gas plume.
Two individuals were transported to the hospital by ambulance and a third transported themselves to the hospital for treatment
Highway 51 southbound was closed from White Avenue to Bushnell Street for several hours while the Beloit Fire Department responded to the incident.
