Beloit native Markese Terrell says he would like to win one of the four seats on the city council up for election this spring. The 32-year-old Terrell describes himself as a community activist who serves as the Vice Chair of the Equal Opportunities Commission and is Chair of the NAACP Education Committee. Terrell also says he works with at-risk youth for the Beloit School District at Merrill Elementary. He says top issues he wishes to address include housing challenges in the city, creating more recreational opportunities for youth, and collaborating with other community partners to improve the quality of life for all residents. Candidates for local office can begin circulating nomination papers Wednesday. The spring election is April 5th.
