Chicago man sentenced for attempted homicide in Beloit

A 22-year-old Beloit man is sentenced to 30 years in prison in connection with a shooting that occurred in Beloit in October of 2014.
The Rock County District Attorney’s Office says that Samuel L. Jones was found guilty of attempted first degree homicide by a jury back in January.
Jones is accused of shooting another man in the arm in the 1800 block of Dewey Avenue because he believed the victim was a police informant.
An addition to three decades in prison, Tuesday Judge Richard Werner also sentenced Jones to 15 years of extended supervision.
