While the Freshman year class at UW-Whitewater this school year was the biggest ever, the number of black and Hispanic students continues to decline.
During the annual State of the University address Monday afternoon Interim Chancellor Jim Henderson said Freshman year enrollment increased this year and may get bigger next year.
Henderson says initiatives that will be undertaken include: learning communities, mental health and recruitment and retention of Hispanic and African-American students.
He says the Board of Regents has committed to naming a search committee at the end of this spring that will start first thing in the fall to finding a permanent Chancellor for the campus.
