Janesville voters will notice something new at their polling place during the April 5th election.
In 2021, the City of Janesville Clerk-Treasurer’s Office purchased electronic poll books, known as Badger Books.
City Clerk-Treasurer Lori Stottler says Badger Books are primarily used to check in voters, process absentee ballots, register voters on election day, and redirect voters in the wrong location to the correct polling place.
Stottler says these devices will help produce quicker turnout reports and track voter participation more accurately as they maintain the voter number and count independent of poll worker input.
Poll workers and citizens can learn more about the electronic poll books and check them out in person during a pair of open houses Thursday from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 until noon at City Hall.
