A 62-year-old Clinton man is facing Operating while Intoxicated charges after Rock County Sheriff’s deputies say he was found asleep at the wheel of a fork-lift. A sheriff’s office news release indicates deputies responded to a report of a pick-up truck in the ditch near the intersection of South County Highway J and East County Highway X about 11:00 p.m. Monday . Deputies say Vernon R. Schmuck Jr. had been driving the pick-up, and was attempting to use the fork-lift to free the vehicle, before being found asleep. Authorities say Schmuck was arrested on a charge of Operating while Intoxicated 5th offense.
