Rock County families can soon take their young ones in for Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines. Health Officer Katrina Harwood says they know younger children are still at risk of severe COVID-19. Harwood says they luckily haven’t had severe outcomes like death the older population has had, which this is great news for the younger population. She says Rock County has about 10 thousand kids in the six months to five years of age, age group who can receive extra protection. They anticipate vaccine availability soon so they can start providing. They ordered the vaccines in advance of authorization to have them on hand and wait for additional clinical guidelines from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services before administering them.
