A Rock County Sheriff’s Deputy doesn’t even get to the accident scene before making an arrest in the case. The deputy spotted the suspect vehicle about midnight Thursday while responding to a hit and run report on Thomas Street east of Newville. The deputy reports following the vehicle, and when it turned off Highway 59 onto Hillside Road, it almost hit a mailbox. 55-year-old Gregory L. Swenson now faces charges of Hit and Run to Property, Open Intoxicants in a Motor Vehicle, and Operating While Intoxicated 8th Offense.
