Janesville native promoted to Commander of FORSCOM

A Janesville native has been promoted to a four star general.
General Andrew Poppas says that while the honor in itself was humbling, those in the room when he was appointed made it even more special, including fellow troops and his family.
Poppas has also been promoted to the new commanding general of the US Army Forces Command at Fort Bragg.
As the commander of the largest Army command, Poppas will be charged with generating trained and ready Army units to U.S. combatant commanders around the globe.
Poppas graduated from Janesville Craig in 1984 before moving on to West Point. Poppas also previously served as the commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division.
