Janesville hopes schools can land on historical places list

A number of Janesville schools are hoping to land on the National Register of Historic Places.
Public Works Senior Planner Brian Schweigl says Wilson, Adams, Roosevelt and Washington Elementary schools are all up for submission and they’re submitting a brief explanation of the building to the state or initial consideration.
Schweigl says this is this first time he’s ever prepared one of these nominations and that it’s an extensive process that requires a large amount of detail and research.
The four schools were all built in the 1930s and each was built with aspects of the Arts and Crafts movement which emphasized hand craftsmanship.
