With the deer hunting season beginning over the weekend, the city of Janesville is reminding people about the guidelines of disposing deer carcases.
Solid Waste Manager Matt Robinson says during deer season the landfill will accept deer carcases and Rock County residents can bring them at any time, but processors, taxidermists, and commercial haulers have to call the city and schedule a disposal.
Robinson says they won’t pick up the carcass if it is mixed in with your normal garbage and that it has to be done separately.
Robinson also says they’ll accept the deer regardless if it was chronic wasting disease or not.
If you need to schedule a disposal or have questions on disposing of a carcass, you can call the city at 6 0 8 7 5 5 3 1 1 0.
