After a unanimous vote during the Janesville Plan Commission meeting Monday night, the Janesville City Council will now need to decide whether or not acquire a number of foreclosed on properties in the city.
Housing Services Director Kelly Bedessem says Rock County typically forecloses on properties every fall, but due to COVID they haven’t done it for the last couple years and the ten properties up for acquisition are the most ever at one time.
Bedessem says before the properties are re-sold, they will need to be cleaned out and inspected, then they will be listed through an agent that the city worked with in the past.
If they are acquired, the city can decide to refurbish and sell or demolish any of the properties.
