Construction begins on Blackhawk project building

The final phase of Blackhawk Tech’s Public Safety Transportation Complex project is officially underway.
Executive Director of Communications Liz Paulsen says this final building is a public safety education center that will house fire and emergency services and police programs, classrooms, a firing range, and a track and gym facility.
Paulsen says the complex will be used by more than just students and that community partners will be able to use the facilities services, with the Madison police department having recently used it to practice high speed chase techniques.
The public education center is approximately 75,000 square feet and is projected to cost $19.8 million dollars.
The center is expected to be completed in late spring of 2024.
