KANDU Industries Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization that provides programs and services to people with disabilities and disadvantages, will host its first annual “Snowball” dinner and dance on Friday, December 9, 2022, from 5 to 8 p.m. KANDU’s Adel Street banquet hall will be transformed into a sparkling blue snowball-themed ballroom with all the amenities of an elegant evening event including fine dining linens and china.
Dressed in formal black and white server uniforms, KANDU’s management team will serve the four-course meal beginning with a variety of passed hors du oeuvres followed by a tossed salad, chicken cordon bleu, garlic mashed potatoes, candied carrots, and a rich French silk pie dessert. After dinner, clients will be recognized for participation in KANDU programs and services including production work, daily living skills, adult day care, or a combination of programs and services. Of the 151 clients who will be recognized, 39 of them (26%) have received various levels of support from KANDU for more than 30 years.
After the recognition ceremony, clients will enjoy the rest of the evening with music and dancing by D.J. Chuck Wilson.
To ensure that clients have every opportunity to feel their best and enjoy the event without the expense of purchasing formal attire, KANDU has solicited donations of nearly 100 formal dresses, suits, shoes, and accessories. All donated items will be on display during a special client shopping day. Clients can visit the “KANDU dress shop” to try on and select items of their choice at no cost to them.
“Every KANDU client deserves the opportunity to be recognized and enjoy the special experience of attending a formal event,” said Executive Director Kathy Hansen. “As an organization, we are always looking for ways to provide fulfilling and enriching opportunities for clients like our monthly client fun days, Halloween party, and the many day trips we take throughout the year.”
