UPDATE: Rock River Heritage County Park opens to the public Friday

Rock County Parks are excited to announce the opening of Rock River Heritage County Park on Friday, November 11th. The park, once owned by the Boy Scouts of America, was purchased by Rock County in February of 2022. This opening is very primitive with an official Grand Opening to be conducted sometime in the Spring. No buildings will be open at this time, however visitors will be able to view the property and what it has to offer to the citizens of Rock County.
Rock River Heritage Park is a 178-acre property (three parcels) located northwest of Janesville on the eastern banks of the Rock River just off North River Road. The parcel was originally created in 1946 to provide outdoor recreation, camping, and education for Boy Scouts in Southern Wisconsin. Since that time, the parcel has evolved and developed to now include trails, lodges and cabins, a man-made lake, and many other amenities. Rock County has made many improvements to the parcel since the purchase in February and visitors will see work continuing throughout the next few months.
When visiting this new Park, we ask that you follow the rules and regulations currently established for Rock County Parks. Operating hours will be from 5am to 10pm. Dogs will be allowed at the park, but they must be leashed at all times and we ask that you always clean up after yourselves.
Rock River Heritage County Park is located at 5801 N. River Road in the Town of Janesville.
