Thirty graduating nursing students from Blackhawk Technical College were celebrated last week during a special pinning ceremony.
Executive Director of Marketing & Communications Liz Paulsen says the ceremony is unique to nursing, and dates back to the 1860s when Florence Nightingale would pin her nursing students to highlight their achievement.
Paulsen says many of the graduates already have jobs lined up with area health care providers, and these graduates will help with the need for jobs in the health care fields.
Jobs that students have range from hospice and home health to hospital and clinic positions.
