Janesville Police Chief Dave Moore is taken aback by a newspaper article that he says suggests a long-time officer’s retirement had something to do with an incident where her gun accidentally discharged.
David Moore sent out a news release thanking Officer Denise Stutika for her service and announcing her retirement on Tuesday.
Moore says during her long career, Officer Stutika developed PACT or Promoting Attendance for Children and Teens, served on the Domestic Violence Intervention Team, worked as a SWAT Negotiator, Peer Support Team, Street Crimes Unit, and bike officer.
An investigation into the incident where officer Stutika’s gun discharged at Edison Middle School when the holster became stuck on her backpack strap found no wrong-doing. Nobody was hurt.
