The Walworth County recognizes that all of the salt that is applied to roads and sidewalks eventually ends up in our fresh water.
Public Works Director Richard Hough says January 23rd through the 27th is Wisconsin Salt Awareness Week.
Hough says to reduce its usage, Walworth County has implemented several smart-salting practices, including increased use of salt brine.
Hough says over the last four years, Walworth County has reduced it’s salt usage by nearly 40 percent.
Every day next week starting at 12:30 p.m. a different speaker will be featured on the Wisconsin Salt Wise YouTube channel, educating citizens about the issue of salt pollution.
