Spongy Moth control efforts to begin at Lustig Park

Work continues this Spring and Summer to deal with a park pest which has taken up residence in Lustig Park in Janesville.
Operations Superintendent Ethan Lee says this will be year two of their aerial spray program to deal with with Spongy Moths in city parks, and they’ll be spraying oil to control hatched caterpillars in the upper canopy of the park.
Lee says aerial application will be done by helicopter in two applications some time between April and July, depending on weather conditions.
Lustig Park will then be closed for a portion of the day following spraying.
People can contact the city’s Parks Division if they have any questions about the program.
