Beloit School District accepts lawsuit settlement against Juul

layout-1-14

The School District of Beloit is joining a number of schools around the country in accepting a lawsuit settlement against the vape company Juul.
Executive Director of Business Services Bob Chady says the district will receive a gross amount of just under $106,000; but after lawyer fees and costs the net amount will be somewhere between $70,000 and $75,000.
Board Member Brian Anderson voiced his support for opting into the settlement, saying in a class action lawsuit it’s always better to be a part of the class than to try and litigate on your own.
The district will receive 54.05% of the settlement within the next 45 days, then roughly 11% every December ending in 2026.
