A 36-year-old former Rock County Sheriff’s deputy who’s accused of sexually assaulting children appears to be taking a plea deal.
A five-day jury trial had been scheduled to begin in May for Gary Huber of Fort Wayne, Indiana, who’s charged with first degree sexual assault of a child, repeated sexual assault of the same child, three counts of child enticement, two counts of causing a child to view sexual activity, and three counts of exposing genitals to a child.
According to online court records, at a calendar call this week, Rock County Judge Derrick Grubb scheduled the case for a plea and sentencing hearing on August 10th at 2:15 p.m.
According to the criminal complaint, Huber assaulted multiple boys between the ages of eight and 15 between 2010 and 2016 – before he was hired at the Sheriff’s Office.
Huber resigned in July of 2021 to avoid an internal investigation.
