A parcel of land on County Road G just south of the Dollar General facility near Janesville could soon be prime real estate for industrial development.
Janesville Planning Director Duane Cherek says at Monday’s regular meeting, the city council will have a first reading and schedule a public hearing to allow the annexation of the property which would allow there to be industrial development on the land.
Cherek says the land area is suited for accommodating future industrial expansion because of the land form and how well it is drained, it’s location in proximity to some of the community’s major regional transportation corridors, and expansion in the area is logical and generally cost effective.
Cherek says the city also intends to create a new TIF district to facilitate the installation of public improvements necessary to promote industrial growth.
The city declined to comment on if any businesses had already inquired about using the land.
