Janesville PD searching for next group of city crossing guards

As a new school year is right around the corner, the Janesville Police Department is searching for their next batch of volunteer crossing guards.
Sergeant Ben Thompson says they’re looking to staff four or five locations this school year as they deal with a larger than normal group of people volunteering from the position.
Thompson says volunteers will have to go through a bit of training in order to make sure they’re prepared for the job including in class and on site training.
Thompson says the department typically has 12 guards at 12 locations throughout Janesville, including at the Harmony Elementary crossing.
