City of Janesville could pick police chief finalists Thursday

| By Big Radio News Staff |
Janesville’s police and fire commission could pick finalists for the city’s vacant police chief position before the end of this week.
City spokesman Nick Faust says the police and fire commission says it’s likely the city could choose final candidates for chief post during a meeting slated Thursday afternoon.
Earlier this month, the city narrowed an initial list of 13 candidates to six candidates the city refers to as “semifinalists.” As of Wednesday, Faust said five semifinalist candidates remain. He did not give details on why a sixth candidate is no longer in the running
Faust said if the police and fire commission does taps finalists Thursday, they’ll likely release the names at that time.
Acting police chief Chad Pearson has publicly confirmed he’s one of the semifinalists, but the city hasn’t yet announced other semifinalists.
